Best Summertime Exercises

Best summertime exercises is my topic for today’s blog. If you are like most of us, your summer is really busy. Dropping and picking up the kids from day camp, work and summer vacations may not leave us much time for long exercise. No worries!

Due to the above, here are my three best summertime exercises that will get you in shape. They will also give you great energy and and an awesome workout all in a short amount of time!

Push-Up w/ Rotation

First for our three best summertime exercises is the push-up with rotation.

In this exercise, you are combining a traditional push up with an advanced side plank. I like this exercise because it:

  1. Works your chest, triceps, shoulders & core.
  1. Challenges your body to stabilize itself.
  1. Works multiple muscles at the same time.
  1. Can be done from home or anywhere!
  1. It requires no to little equipment

Side Lunge to Balance

Another of our three best summertime exercises is the side lunge to balance. In the exercise you are combining a side lunge with a single leg balance.

I like this exercise for the following reasons:

  1. Most people only do front/back lunges and this one allows you to target your lateral leg muscles.
  1. Most people don’t do balance exercises when they exercise. However, as we age we tend to lose our balance. You can help to prevent that by doing this exercise!
  1. You can add dumbbells or medicine balls to your hands to really amp the challenge and make it more fun!
  1. It can be done anywhere.
  1. It requires no to little equipment.

Renegade Rows

The final exercise is the renegade row.

Don’t be intimidated by the name as it’s really not that bad, lol!

In the exercise, you are holding a push-up position and then pulling one arm at a time to your side like a row.

I like this exercise because:

  1. It works so many different muscles like your back, biceps and core.
  1. Holding the push up position and having to do something else at the same time really makes your body workout hard. This means tons of calories burned!
  1. It can be done anywhere!
  1. It requires no to little equipment.
