I began working with Maurice four years ago and highly recommend him as a personal trainer. I have found him to be an outstanding trainer in every way. Maurice is encouraging, demanding, respectful, and professional. I have been training with Maurice for eight years and have loved every minute of it. He is motivating and inspirational! He listens to his clients needs and responds accordingly. Over the span of eight years he has accommodated my pregnancy, injuries and a chronic illness. I attribute alot of my strength and health to him. He is more than my trainer and always goes well beyond the call of duty. I have been working with Maurice for about a year now. He has stood by me through 2 wrist surgeries, and the death of my mother- adjusting the program as needed. Maurice has helped me to believe in myself again, and to remember how good exercise can make you feel. Maurice always checks in when I am down, either physically or mentally, and gives me that little nudge to stay the course. I am beyond grateful!
MEET M. CONNELLY
I worked out with Maurice for about one year, until he left my gym to start his own business. I think he is the consummate trainer, and I’ve worked with a number of trainers at several gyms.
Maurice always made sure my form was correct. He helped me work on and understand my “structural” issues (rounded shoulders; poor flexibility; misalignment). He helped me to safely build strength and endurance through a progressive combination of free weights, machines, kettle bells, metabolic finishers, and cardio work. For cardio, Maurice recommended that I get a heart rate monitor and do interval training. He always explained the science behind what we were doing and why. And Maurice gave me detailed workouts that I could do on my own. This was really important to me because my finances required me to work out on my own at least once weekly and also required that there be an end-game —that I eventually end PT and be able to work out on my own without stagnating or injuring myself.
Maurice also helped me in other ways, reflecting his holistic approach. In particular, Maurice listened closely when I expressed frustration with my inability to lose 15-20 pounds. He had several suggestions, and when I couldn’t make them work, recommended a nutritionist at the gym who put me on a 12 week eating plan that was a total success and that I am thrilled with. Because I was reluctant to spend money on a nutritionist as well as a trainer, Maurice even offered to freeze my training for one month, a financial sacrifice for him, so that I could pay the nutritionist!
Finally, as a family man with small children, Maurice understands that some fitness goals may be aspirational for busy working parents. We know we should get more sleep, drink less coffee, and foam roll daily, but we have to juggle those goals with other demands. He encouraged me to do the best I could, but always understood that single minded focus on these things is sometimes just not realistic with all the other demands on working parents’ time.
MEET DINA K
I would recommend working with Maurice solely based on his work ethic! At the same time, though, he’s knowledgeable, approachable, and flexible. As someone who underwent scoliosis surgery more than 20 years ago, I am always worried about hurting my back. I also have very weak hips. Maurice not only helped me understand where I was unbalanced, but also recommended more targeted stretches and exercises to help correct these deficiencies.

MEET E. KLEINKNECHT
Maurice is the best trainer I have ever hired – and I have tried lots of them! He has special training in corrective exercise, which means he can tell when you are recruiting the wrong muscles to do the job. This especially helpful for me since I am good at compensating! Maurice also follows through – he will send you home with exercises to do at home, and will help to ensure that you can do maintenance work on days you aren’t working with him.
Maurice also worked with my teen-aged son, who gives him 2-thumbs up. My physical therapist has worked with Maurice as well, and she was very impressed by his knowledge, his professionalism, and his lack of arrogance.
I highly recommend Maurice to anyone who has special physical needs, or just anyone looking for professional excellence.

When I began looking for a personal trainer nearly 2 years ago, a colleague of mine said, “If you are serious, go see Maurice!” My colleague had heard about Maurice through her son, who knew all the personal trainers in the gym where he trains, and her son told her that he was the best. And guess what, he is. Three words come to mind when I think of Maurice: serious, knowledgeable, and adaptable. He is serious in helping you to meet your fitness and weight loss goals. As he noted during our first meeting, 75 to 80% of weight loss is through proper diet. Given his breath of knowledge, he is able to bring a more holistic approach to his training, which is critical if you are serious about obtaining your goals. Through his coaching on getting enough sleep and eating well, in addition to his training direction, I have been able to meet my initial fitness goals.
Maurice is clearly knowledgeable about his field. His university and ongoing education have given him a deep understanding of how muscles move and how to train them properly to get maximum results from a workout. I have reached a point in my training with him that he mixes up routines, one day working with TRX and the next using a variety of free weights combined with aerobic workout.
Lastly, Maurice is adaptable. I may come in and tell him that I am experiencing pain somewhere, and he will think for 5 to 10 seconds, then say, “okay, then we will do this today”, and immediately he will adapt my workout either to address the condition or not, depending on what I describe. He is extremely careful to avoid injury or aggravating any condition you might have.
If you are serious in attaining your fitness goals, train with Maurice and follow his guidance — you will not be disappointed!
MEET B FRANK
I started training with Maurice about 4 years ago. The simple fact that I have remained with him for four years attests to what a great job he is doing for me and how much I enjoy having him as my trainer. When I first started working out with Maurice I was about 10 pounds heavier than my desired weight. A sound exercise program coupled with Shakeology helped me knock off the excess weight and trim by physique so that in a few months I not only looked a lot better but I felt a lot better, too.
This past year (2013) some decades old cervical (neck) injuries resurfaced with a vengeance and for a while I continued to work out with Maurice and we adjusted the program so as to not aggravate my neck but by the fall things had deteriorated to the point that I felt it best to quit exercising and see if my body would heal. It didn’t and in February, 2014 I finally had the operation (disk fusion) that I had been told many years ago I needed. For a few weeks after surgery I was not allowed to do any exercise except for cardio but as soon as my doctor gave me the OK to begin a very limited training program I reconnected with Maurice and began working with him on designing a program to get back into shape while avoiding activities that stressed my neck and shoulder muscles. In true form, Maurice came through with a great series of exercises that work my arms, legs, core and lower back without putting any pressure on my neck and shoulders. I am 62 years old an realize that my recovery is going to take a heck of a lot longer than if I were 18 but in working with Maurice I am completely confident that within a few months I will be looking and feeling like my old self (minus the pains in my neck). I can’t recommend Maurice highly enough. He is a great trainer and a wonderful human as well.
